Viewing a Flat to Rent in France
Call about a listing, ask the right questions during the viewing and get your rental application in fast.
Good rentals in French cities go within days, so bring a complete dossier to the viewing: ID, your last three payslips, employment contract and last tax notice. Landlords usually want a garant (guarantor), but the free state-backed Visale guarantee is widely accepted. The deposit (dépôt de garantie) is capped at one month's rent excluding charges for an unfurnished flat and two months for a furnished one, and the listing must show the DPE energy rating; the worst-rated G flats can no longer be newly let.
