A Summer Barbecue With French Friends
Get invited to a garden barbecue, help with the grill, ask for your meat the way you like it and thank your hosts.
Summer weekends in France often mean a barbecue in the garden, with an apéro first, then merguez, chipolatas, brochettes or a côte de bœuf, plus salad and bread. Guests usually bring something, like a bottle of rosé or a dessert. In the south, prefects often ban lighting fires and charcoal barbecues outdoors in hot, dry weather because of the wildfire risk.
