Treasure Hunting at a French Flea Market
Hunt for records, stamps and old postcards at a vide-grenier, haggle politely and talk about your collection.
From spring to autumn, French villages and neighbourhoods hold « vide-greniers », literally attic-emptyings, where locals sell their old things on Sunday mornings; « brocantes » have more professional dealers. Haggling is normal but friendly, and cash in small notes and coins is best. Collectors also buy and sell on Leboncoin; use vous with sellers and tu with your friends.
