Renewing Your Residence Permit at the Préfecture

Handle your titre de séjour appointment at the préfecture, from the missing document to the fingerprints.

Most residence permit applications in France are now made online on the ANEF website, but you are still called in to the préfecture to give fingerprints and collect your card. Apply to renew two to four months before your titre de séjour expires; while the file is being processed you get a récépissé or an attestation that lets you stay and usually keep working. Bring originals and copies of everything, and buy the timbre fiscal online in advance.
