Sorting Out Taxes, CAF and Bank Admin in France

Get through your first French tax return, a housing-benefit claim and a bank mix-up with the right admin vocabulary.

France Services offices, found in most towns, give free in-person help with impots.gouv.fr, the CAF, Ameli and other online admin. Everyone files a déclaration de revenus online each spring, even though income tax is now deducted from your salary at source. Expect to be asked for a RIB (your bank details slip) and a justificatif de domicile less than three months old, and you can log into most public websites with FranceConnect once you have an Ameli or tax account.
