Nailing Your Annual Review in a French Office

Talk through your year, take feedback, ask for more responsibility and raise the question of pay with your manager.

Most French companies hold an entretien annuel d'évaluation once a year, and by law every employee also has an entretien professionnel at least every two years about training and career plans. Pay rises are often decided in a separate annual round, so a bonus (prime) or training may be offered instead. Every worker has a Compte personnel de formation (CPF) that funds courses, and the review ends with a written compte rendu you can comment on before signing.
