Periods, Hot Flushes and the Gynaecologist

Talk openly about periods and early menopause with a friend, then explain your symptoms to a gynaecologist in France.

In France you can book a gynécologue directly, without going through your GP, usually on Doctolib, and midwives (sages-femmes) also do routine gynaecological follow-up. Blood tests (une prise de sang) and ultrasounds are done in a private lab or imaging centre with the doctor's prescription and are reimbursed by the Assurance Maladie and your mutuelle. Pharmacists are a normal first stop for period pain; antispasmodics are a common French remedy.
