Reporting a Stolen Phone to the French Police
Find a police station, file a theft report and get the receipt your insurer and bank will ask for.
To report a theft in France you porter plainte at the commissariat in towns, or the gendarmerie in rural areas; you can save time by filling in a pré-plainte en ligne first and then signing in person. You leave with a récépissé de dépôt de plainte, which your insurer, bank and phone operator will ask for. Block your bank card straight away by calling your bank or the card-blocking line, and keep your phone's IMEI number handy.
