Chatting About Music with French Friends

Say what you listen to, talk about concerts and festivals, and make plans for the Fête de la musique.

Music is an easy topic for small talk in France: French rap is the best-selling genre with young people, while chanson française classics are known by every generation. On 21 June the whole country celebrates the Fête de la musique, with free concerts in the streets, bars and squares until late. Summer festivals like Les Vieilles Charrues, Rock en Seine or the Francofolies sell out early, and big concerts happen in venues called Zénith.
