Your First Weeks as a Language Assistant in a French School
Settle into a French collège: meet the head, find the staff room, sit in on classes and learn how the school runs.
Each year France recruits English-speaking assistants de langue for schools, on a contract that runs from 1 October to 30 April, for 12 hours a week. In a collège the head is le principal or la principale, discipline and attendance are handled by the CPE and the vie scolaire team, and marks and homework live on the Pronote app. Teachers usually tu each other in the salle des profs, but you use vous with the head, and pupils call teachers Madame or Monsieur.
