Your First Shifts in a French Shop
Greet customers, find sizes, ring up sales and handle returns in a French clothes shop.
In French shops you always greet customers with « Bonjour » and use vous; colleagues usually say tu to each other. The official sales (les soldes) happen twice a year on dates fixed nationally, in winter and summer. Single-use plastic bags are banned, so shops often charge a few cents for a paper or reusable bag, and contactless card payment works up to 50 €; for returns, many shops offer an exchange or a credit note (un avoir) rather than a refund.
