Adopting a Child in Spain

Talk about adoption plans, ask the right questions at an information session and share the news with family.

In Spain adoption is run by each region's child protection services: you start with an information session, then social workers and psychologists assess you for a 'certificado de idoneidad'. National adoption can take years, so many families also consider fostering ('acogimiento familiar') or adopting older children and siblings. The cards follow a couple talking to a friend who adopted, attending a regional information session and telling the family they've decided.
