At the Emergency Room in Spain

Call 112, explain an accident and get through triage, tests and discharge at a Spanish hospital's urgencias.

In Spain you dial 112 for any emergency; the operator sends an ambulance and gives first-aid advice. At hospital 'urgencias' you show your tarjeta sanitaria at reception, a nurse does triage and patients are seen by severity, not arrival time. You leave with an 'informe de alta' to take to your GP (médico de cabecera), who also handles any sick leave. The cards follow a bike accident in Madrid from the 112 call to discharge.
