In Spain a barbacoa usually happens at a friend's chalet or a family plot outside the city, with chicken skewers, lamb chops, grilled vegetables and lots of sobremesa. Many areas restrict open fires in summer, so people check the rules first. The cards follow an invitation, the shopping and a long Saturday lunch at a chalet near Madrid.
