Blackouts, Floods and Being Prepared in Spain

Talk about emergency kits, blackouts and weather alerts the way people in Spain do after a big apagón or a DANA.

Recent years have made preparedness a real topic in Spain: the nationwide blackout of 2025, deadly DANA floods around Valencia, heatwaves and forest fires. Phones receive ES-Alert warnings from Protección Civil, and the EU now recommends a 72-hour emergency kit. The cards follow neighbours in a Valencia building during a blackout and a flood warning.
