Food and Drink in Spain

Everyday Spanish expressions for tapas bars, set lunches and paying the bill.

In Spain people go de tapas, hopping between bars for a cold drink and small plates or raciones to share. Lunch is the big meal, eaten around two, and on weekdays many restaurants offer a menú del día with two courses, dessert and a drink. After eating comes the sobremesa, staying at the table to chat. The cards follow an evening of tapas in Seville and a long lunch the next day.
