Getting a Mortgage in Spain

Ask a Spanish bank about a mortgage: how much you can borrow, fixed or variable, the down payment and the paperwork.

In Spain banks usually lend up to 80% of the property's value, so you need savings for the entrada plus around 10% more for taxes, notary and registry. You choose between tipo fijo, variable (linked to the Euríbor) or mixto, and banks lower the rate if you move your nómina and take their insurance. These cards follow a first meeting with a bank adviser and a chat at home afterwards.
