Sun and Skin in Spain

Simple Spanish for buying sunscreen, staying safe on the beach and dealing with sunburn.

The Spanish summer sun is strong, and locals avoid the beach between about 12 and 4. Sunscreen is bought at the farmacia, where staff happily advise on factor and skin type, and moles are checked through your centro de salud. These cards follow a pharmacy visit, a day on the beach in Alicante and an evening with a sunburn.

A bustling Spanish beach town with colorful umbrellas, hills, and palm trees.
