Staying Home with a Sick Child in Spain
Sorting out work, the nursery and the paediatrician when your child is ill in Spain.
Spain has no special paid leave for ordinary childhood illnesses: parents juggle grandparents, remote work, personal days ('asuntos propios') and the few paid hours of 'permiso por fuerza mayor' for urgent family reasons. Nurseries send feverish children home, and the paediatrician at the 'centro de salud' gives you a note for work. These cards follow one sick day from 7 a.m. to the next morning.
