Everyday Phrases for a Newcomer

The short lines that get you through an ordinary Swedish day.

The newcomer's survival phrasebook, in the order the errands come: interrupting politely, the myndighet visit (kölapp, blankett, personnummer or the lack of one), the comprehension toolkit (slower, again, in writing), buses and libraries — and the phrase that changes everything: byt gärna inte till engelska. Please don't switch to English.
