Calling in Sick: How It Works in Sweden

Full sentences about reporting sick, sick pay, doctor's notes, caring for sick children and returning to work in Sweden.

Being off sick in Sweden follows clear rules: you tell your employer on the first day, there's a deduction from your sick pay, a doctor's note is needed from day eight, and Försäkringskassan takes over after two weeks. These sentences explain the system and help you describe your own situation.
